Traditional design and construction has persisted for many years with little change or innovation. We think the McMansion Era spelled the culmination of excessive design and construction. Today, a more common notion is, downsizing, which in our opinion relates not only to size but includes more user friendly design, more consideration to the sustainability and quality of building materials and protection of the environment as imperatives. It became necessary for us to think about and create a completely new form. A form that would reduce construction cost, increase value, increase resale probability, reduce operating and maintenance cost and be considerably more friendly to the environment.

Affordable

 Our innovative framing design and construction process employing the use of steel and glass make our structures stronger, less expensive,
less susceptible to fire damage and allow for significant reduction in energy consumption. We deliver houses in a cost range of $150 to $250 per square foot.

Sustainable

With the generous amount of exposure to the sun provided by our glass walls and proper siting a significant amount of heating is done naturally by the sun without any disturbance to the environment. With the addition of solar panels on the roof, solar houses are brought to a zero energy level.

Expandable

We design our structures with easy and less costly expandability allowing the client to initiate the process with the least costly COTTAGE model and in time add a one or two car garage and additional bedrooms all within a comfortable timeframe. The cost of expansion is considerably less resulting from preplanning the final expectation.

We predesign expansion options into our structures allowing size increases fully consistent with original design and considerably less expensive as a result. Since many people buy a home with the thought of expanding, predesign expansion may actually become a valuable resale asset.

FEMA Approved & Hurricane-Resistant

Recent hurricanes have motivated local municipalities and FEMA to install more rigid standards into building codes thus increasing home construction cost. Satisfying FEMA and all other code requirements is inherent in our designs so no additional construction cost are incurred. In fact our built in system provide a higher measure of structural integrity than the typical remedies applied today. Our structural design affords us the ability to also produce hurricane resistant homes ideal for shorefront locations.

We have also given serious attention to owner operating cost. Our steel framing structures are impervious to heat, cold, infestation, rot and to a large degree fire. Our structures do not sway in the wind and are not affected by warping, cracking, expanding and contracting since they have relatively small coefficients compared to the products used in traditional wood construction. The rigidity of our framing allows us to utilize expansive glass walls, enhancing our solar heating potential with no concern given to potential cracking due to frame flexing normally experienced in wood structures.

Products Currently Offered

SOLERGY HOMES is currently offering three products and will be able to take orders beginning June 1, 2020.

Backyard Cottage

This 900 sq/ft product to which a garage may be added is designed primarily for retirees who would rather live in privacy on an existing or adjoining family property rather than a considerably more expensive assisted living complex. This product may also be a selection for a new home buyer interested in limiting the initial home investment with the flexibility of adding bedrooms and garage at a more propitious to time. This product includes all of the Solergy Home features and innovations.

1 Bedroom + 1 Car Garage

The 900 sq/ft one bedroom configuration will be attractive to the first time buyer interested in limiting initial expenditure with the opportunity to expand facilities at a more financially convenient time. Expansion capability is designed into this configuration thus reducing expansion costs compared to traditional home expansion costs. Again this product includes all Solergy Home features and innovation. This product will also interest retired person who want to maintain independence and privacy at very reasonable costs.

2 Bedroom + 1 Car Garage

The one bedroom configuration which is 1600 square feet may also be expanded. The structure may be predesigned to accommodate a second garage and a second bedroom becoming a 2000 square foot home. The two bedroom configuration places the guest room on the second floor. Again, all Solergy Home features and innovations will be includes. Typically the Solergy Home provides the client with custom quality construction at considerably less cost.

About Don Adley

Our founder, Don Adley got his start in corporate America in New York City. Deciding he needed to pursue a different agenda, he moved to Connecticut and began a small home improvement company specializing in historic restoration, home renovations and home additions.

Within 5 years he had grown out of small renovation projects and into a full-scale home building operation. Projects grew to a multi-million-dollar level and his company became one of the foremost high-end building design build companies on the Connecticut shoreline.

Having built traditional New England designs for years, and experiencing no significant innovation, he realized it was time for a change. So he wiped our slate clean and began to think more practically about the needs of the new home buyer.

It was time for an energy-efficient, cost-effective, ecofriendly concept and design that would accommodate a variety of lifestyles. Solergy Homes was born and will be excited to be a part of your dream home process. We are anxious to discuss your new home requirements with you.
